Researched by Industrial Information Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--American Transmission Company LLC (Waukesha, Wisconsin), with Henkels & McCoy Incorporated (Salem, Illinois) and M.J. Electric (Mountain, Michigan), has completed construction of the 32-mile, 345-kilovolt (kV) Rockdale-West Middleton transmission line project in Cambridge, Wisconsin. The project cost more than $200 million to construct, and it began commercial operations four months before its February deadline.
The project was introduced in 2004, with 20-plus public meetings over a three-year period. Construction was greenlighted in 2011, following the Public Service Commission's (PSC) review in 2009. ATC then hired multiple contractors to help with consulting and engineering, such as Sargent & Lundy (Chicago, Illinois), GEI Consultants (Woburn, Massachusetts) and Power Engineers (Hailey, Idaho).
The Rockdale-West Middleton transmission line project was built to avoid agricultural land, protect water and wetlands, and reduce visual impacts.
American Transmission Company, founded in 2001, is one of the first multiple state, transmission only utility in the U.S. It has offices in Michigan and Illinois.
Henkels & McCoy is one of the largest privately held engineering, project management, construction, and training firms, providing critical infrastructure for the electric power, renewable energy, communications, natural gas and pipeline, and water industries.
M.J. Electric performs industrial and power services, such as storm response and utility construction.
