Rockspring Development Expands Camp Creek Coal Mine

Rockspring Development Incorporated (East Lynn, West Virginia), a subsidiary of RAG American Coal Holdings Incorporated (Linthicum Heights, Maryland), is near completion of a $6 million expansion at its Camp Creek coal mine. Work included modifications to the mines coal preparation plant, coal silos, and stacker tube additions.

This summer the company plans to install rail loadout facilities. This will help reduce truck traffic in the area and will also increase the number of railcars that can be loaded up to 110 car trains a day.

Once completed the company hopes to boost coal production from 2.1 million tons per year up to 3.2 million tons per year.

The Camp Creek mine is an underground room and pillar mine in the Winifrede Seam in West Virginia and produces bituminous steam coal. The underground mine recently under went about $25 million in improvements.

The preparation plant with heavy media cyclones and spirals is capable of processing 1,250 raw tons per hour.

RAG American Coal Holdings Incorporated, a subsidiary of RAG Coal International Aktiengesellschaft (Essen, Germany), is the holding company for eleven U.S. coal mining complexes with production capability of around 65 million tons a year.
