Solar Projects Lead California Fourth-Quarter Power Project Completions
California is on track to complete Power Industry projects with a combined total investment value (TIV) of $2.79 billion in the fourth quarter of this year. Leading the way are 11 solar power projects with a combined TIV of $2.11 billion.

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--California is on track to complete Power Industry projects with a combined total investment value (TIV) of $2.79 billion in the fourth quarter of this year. Leading the way are 11 solar power projects with a combined TIV of $2.11 billion.
Chief among these solar projects are two grassroot facilities near Blythe, California, by NextEra Energy Resources (NYSE:NEE) (Juno Beach, Florida). The two photovoltaic (PV) projects each have a generating capacity of 250 megawatts, and both began construction in 2014. The projects have a combined total investment value of $1.1 billion and are expected to be completed by the end of the quarter. Blattner Energy Incorporated (Avon, Minnesota) is acting as general contractor on the Blythe PV Solar Park, which is expected to be completed this month, while First Solar Incorporated (NASDAQ:FSLR) (Tempe, Arizona) is acting as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firm on the McCoy Solar PV Project, which is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
In Rosamond, California, Southern Power's (Atlanta, Georgia) Garland PV solar plant is nearing completion. The 205-MW plant began construction in late 2015. Recurrent Energy (San Francisco, California) is acting as project manager. Southern Power is a subsidiary of Southern Company (NYSE:SO) (Atlanta), and Recurrent Energy is a subsidiary of Canadian Solar Incorporated (NASDAQ:CSIQ) (Guelph, Ontario). Southern Company has teamed up with First Solar to construct the Desert Stateline Solar Park in Nipton, California. The 100-MW Phase I construction kicked off in late 2014 and is expected to be completed by the end of this year. A second 100-MW phase began construction earlier this year and is expected to be completed in early 2017.
