Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Tianjin Electric Power Construction Company (TEPCC) (Tianjin) recently completed the concrete placement of the steam turbine operation floor for Unit 3 in Phase I of the Ningde Nuclear Power Plant. The concrete structure construction for the main powerhouse of Unit 3 has been completed, and the civil construction for the unit has entered its final stage, as has the interior and exterior decoration, according to an announcement from TEPCC, the construction contractor of the project, on January 14, 2012.
Construction of the steam turbine operation floor is one of the critical and difficult points in the construction of the conventional island for the nuclear power plant. The operation floor has a complicated structure and features a large quantity of large rebar, pre-embedded parts, cable conduits and anchors. TEPCC has worked out a detailed construction scheme prior to the kickoff of construction, which effectively ensured smooth progress and a high quality in delivery.
TEPCC is currently responsible for the civil works of the conventional islands for units 1 to 4 at the Ningde Nuclear Power Plant, as well as the installation works for the balance of plant in Phase I.
Ningde Nuclear Power Station, which is in Qinyu Town, in eastern China's Fujian province, has a total planned capacity of six 1,000-megawatt (MW) units, based on an improved second generation of advanced pressurized water reactors that are to be built in two phases. Construction of units 1 and 2 in Phase I began on November 21, 2008, and June 17, 2009, respectively.
The Phase I project is jointly invested by Ningde Nuclear Power Company Limited (Ningde, Fujian), a project company jointly invested by CGNPC, Datang International Power Generation Company Limited (Beijing, China) and Fujian Coal Industry (Group) Company Limited (Fuzhou, China). China Nuclear Power Engineering Company Limited (Shenzhen), a subsidiary of CGNPC, is serving as the general contractor on the project. China Nuclear Industry Huaxing Construction Company Limited (Nanjing, Jiangsu) and China Nuclear Industry 23rd Construction Corporation (Beijing), two subsidiaries of China Nuclear Engineering Group Corporation (Beijing), are responsible for the construction and nuclear island erection works of the project, respectively.
So far, Unit 1 is working on cold state functional testing. According to plans, all four units in Phase I are expected to begin operations by the end of 2015.
