Two More Fuel Ethanol Plants Break Ground in Indiana

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas). Two more fuel ethanol plants broke ground in Indiana, running the states total plants under construction to seven facilities and adding more than 500 million gallons of capacity.
Cardinal Ethanol, LLC (Winchester, Indiana) has broken ground on a 100 million-gallon per year plant in Winchester. The plant will process 36 million bushels per year of locally grown Indiana corn into the renewable fuel. The plant will also generate 340,000 tons per year of distillers dried grains. Fagen Incorporated (Granite Falls, Minnesota) has been selected as the design-build contractor for this $150 million project and construction is expected to take twelve to fourteen months to complete. The plant will be located off Highway 27 between Winchester and Union City, Indiana.
The second plant breaking ground belongs to Hartford Bio-Energy (Westmont, Illinois) and will bring an additional 60 million gallons of ethanol capacity to Indiana. This plant will utilize Vogelbusch (Houston, Texas) licensed ethanol process technology and the design-build firm is F.A. Wilhelm Construction Company (Indianapolis, Indiana). Construction on this $84 million project is expected to be complete by late 2007. The plant will be located on 75 acres of land in the Hartford City Industrial Park located at 600 Industrial Park Drive.
The other five plants currently under construction in Indiana include The Andersons Incorporated 110 million-gallon per year plant in Clymers; Iroquois Bio-Energy Company 40 million-gallon per year plant in Rensselaer; Central Indiana Ethanol 40 million-gallon per year plant in Marion; Putnam Ethanol 100 million-gallon per year plant in Cloverdale; and ASAlliances Biofuels 100 million-gallon per year plant in Linden.
Eight additional fuel ethanol plants are also in the pre-construction phase in the state. Alternative Fuels is one of the industries driving record growth in industrial project activity in Indiana.
