Among the largest projects planned to kick off in the fourth quarter is the Solomon Forks Windfarm near Colby, Kansas. The project is being developed by Infinity Renewables LLC (Santa Barbara, California) and will use 184 2.5-megawatt (MW) wind turbine-generators for a total generating capacity of 460 MW. Construction is planned for completion by the end of 2018. The project has an estimated total investment value (TIV) of $900 million. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

In Iowa, Alliant Energy Corporation plans to begin construction of the Upland Prairie Windfarm near Spencer, in the northwest portion of the state. The windfarm will be constructed on 30,000 acres and has an estimated total investment value of $580 million. In addition, a $15 million substation will accompany the project. The windfarm will use approximately 120 wind turbine-generators to generate nearly 300 MW. Construction is planned for completion by the end of next year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on the windfarm and substation.

One of the largest Industrial Manufacturing projects also is planned to kick off in Iowa. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) (Redmond, Washington) plans to start construction on a data center in West Des Moines by the end of the year. The first phase of the data center will be approximately 425,000 square feet of building space for four data server buildings and supporting equipment and systems. Three additional phases of the data center remain in the early planning stages, each of which would add 425,000 square feet of new space. The second phase of construction could begin in the second quarter of next year. For more information, see Industrial Info's project reports on Phase I, Phase II, Phase III and Phase IV of the data center.

Fourth-quarter Project Completions
Among the highest-value projects to be completed in the quarter is Enel Green Power North America's (Andover, Massachusetts) Rock Creek Windfarm near Fairfax, Missouri. Construction began in late 2016 and is set for completion by the end of this year. Using 150 2-MW turbines, the project will have a total generating capacity of 300 MW. Renewable Energy Systems Limited (RES Americas) (Broomfield, Colorado) is providing engineering, procurement and construction. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.

In the Industrial Manufacturing Industry, Viega LLC (Broomfield) is wrapping up a pipe and pipe fittings manufacturing plant expansion in McPherson, Kansas. The project involves adding a 90,000-square-foot building addition to the existing 519,000-square-foot building, with a new manufacturing press line. Construction began earlier this year and is expected to be wrapped up by yearend. Conco Construction (Wichita, Kansas) is general contractor on the project, which has an estimated total investment value of $85 million. For more information, see Industrial Info's project report.
