Wild Goose Storage Set to Expand its Gridley Natural Gas Storage Facility

Wild Goose Storage Incorporated (Gridley, California) is nearing construction start of a $90+ million expansion to its existing natural gas storage reservoir near Gridley, California. Wild Goose will increase the storage capacity up to 29 bcf and natural gas injection/withdrawal rates will increase up to 450 mmscfd and 700 mmscfd respectively. Even though Wild Goose is permitted to install four compressors, it will only install two new 3,550 horsepower Caterpillar compressor units and construct a 25 mile 30" diameter lateral pipeline in this expansion round.
Wild Goose awarded the pipeline-engineering contract to Rooney Engineering (Englewood, Colorado) and the surface facilities engineering contract to Washington Group International (Denver, Colorado). Construction is slated to begin in April 2003, with a mid-2004 completion timeline. Wild Goose Storage Incorporated is a subsidiary of Encana (TSE/NYSE:ECA) (Calgary, AB, Canada).
