Yunnan Power Grid Corporation to Spend $4.5 Billion for 386 Projects in the Next Three Years

According to the plans, Yunnan Power will invest $4.5 billion to build or expand 386 projects with a total substation capacity of 39,854 megavolt-amperes (MVA) over the next three years:

•18 projects at the 500-kilovolt (kV) level
•120 projects at the 220-kV level
•248 projects at the 110-kV level

By 2010, Yunnan's power supply and transmission capacity will be doubled. In addition to meeting power demand in the province, the power-transmission capacity from the west to the east in the Yunnan power grid will reach 7,900 megawatts (MW) following the completion of the ±800-kV Yunnan-Guangdong DC transmission project in 2010.
