Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction Company (ZTPC) (Hangzhou, Zhejiang), a subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), completed the boiler water pressure test for Unit 4 of China Shenhua Guohua Electric Power Company's (Beijing) Zhoushan Power Plant Phase II expansion project on January 25, 2014, according to an announcement from the CEEC on January 26. Completion of the water pressure test has improved conditions for the boiler washing and pipeline flushing in the next stage.

The boiler was manufactured by Shanghai Electric Corporation (Shanghai), and it has 31,556 welding seams in its heating surface. The test pressure was reported to be 33.7 Mpa for the primary system and 8.6 Mpa for the secondary system. During the test, the entire pressure process was under control, as per national standards, and no deformation, crack or leakage was detected in the welding seams.

The Shenhua Guohua Zhoushan Power Plant is located in the Dinghai District of Zhoushan City, in eastern China's Zhejiang province. The power plant was built in 1997 with three 300-MW, coal-fired units in operation. In September 2011, the plant received preliminary approval from the National Energy Administration to begin pre-stage preparation for the addition of Unit 4. The groundbreaking ceremony for the project was held in October 2012. In February 2013, ZTPC won the bid for the main construction work on the unit.

Unit 4 is a 350-megawatt (MW), supercritical, coal-fired unit, featuring a high-efficiency flue gas desulfurization device; a NOx control device; and a seawater desalting device. According to the schedule, the project will begin operations in late 2014. Upon completion, the project will provide important power support to the Zhejiang grid.
