Industrial Info Research Latin America (Sugar Land, Texas)--Spanish company Iberdrola Renovables (Valencia, Spain), a subsidiary of Iberdrola SA (PINKSHEETS:IBDRY) (Bilbao, Spain), recently acquired the 48-megawatt (MW) Los Lirios windfarm from Gamesa Energia (MCE:GAM) (Madrid, Spain), adding the facility to Iberdrola's Andevalo Windfarm Complex.

This operation was carried out under the framework agreement signed in 2005 by Iberdrola Renovables and Gamesa Energia for 600 MW of assets.

After the acquisition, the windfarm complex reached 292 MW of installed capacity, making it the largest renewable energy facility in Continental Europe.

El Andevalo is located in Andalusia between the towns of San Silvestre de Guzman, El Almendro, Puebla de Guzmán and Alosno. The complex's total installed capacity was 244 MW before the acquisition, distributed via seven windfarms: Majal Alto (50 MW), El Saucito (30 MW); El Centenar (40 MW); Tallisca (40 MW); Retuerta (38 MW); Las Cabezas (18 MW); and Valdefuentes (28 MW).

The windfarms use Gamesa wind turbine models G90 (2 MW) and G58 (850 kilowatts).

Iberdrola has a presence in 23 countries and is a world leader in wind generation with more than 12,500 MW of installed capacity. In Latin America, the Spanish company recently acquired the Bii Nee Stipa Windfarm in the Oaxaca State in Mexico with an installed capacity of 26.5 MW. This acquisition confirms the company's policy of expanding its world presence in the sector.

Iberdrola Renovables has another operational windfarm in Mexico, known as La Ventosa (80 MW). This windfarm is located near the Bii Nee Stipa facility. Both complexes use 850-kilowatts Gamesa G52 aerogenerators.
