Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--AB Nynas Petroleum's (Stockholm, Sweden) 20,000-barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Nynäshamn Refinery, which is in the industrial area of Stockholm, in the city of Ninäshamnh, is scheduled to undergo a maintenance turnaround in September 2011.
The turnaround, which will entail mainly cleaning and inspection, will concern the production area and the offsite complex, with 19 units in all. Units are expected to be kept offline for a non-production period of 28 days. In normal conditions, major maintenance turnarounds are performed every four years. The last refinery overhaul took place in September 2007.
Separately, Technip KTI has awarded a $40 million engineering and construction contract for a 24-ton-per-day sulphur unit and the installation of a 42-ton-per-day tail gas treater unit (Technip KTI technology) at the refinery. The construction for those units is scheduled to last approximately 16 months, starting in January 2011.
Created in 1928 and reconfigurated in 1983, the plant is the bigger of the two refineries Nynas owns and operates in Sweden. The facility distillates crude and processes a wide range of products, such as bitumen and fuels. It receives distillates from the Gothenburg refinery as well, mainly focused in bitumen production.
