Researched by Industrial Information Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Sheerness Generating Station shut down its 398-megawatt (MW) Unit 2 on Thursday, January 17, 2008, after an extraction steam line leak. The station, in Alberta, Canada, is owned by ATCO Power Limited.
The station became operational in 1986.The plant has a generating capacity totaling 796 MW when at full load. The other generator, Unit 1, will remain online and run at full capacity.
