Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, TX)--Austin Energy has confirmed that it has released requests for proposals for general contracting services to install two 50-megawatt (MW) GE LM6000PD SPRINT turbines at the company's Sand Hill Energy Center in Del Valle, Texas.
The center was constructed in 2001 and consisted of four 50-MW GE LM6000PD SPRINT turbines. A 290-MW combined-cycle addition was later commissioned, consisting of a 139-MW GE MS7001FA with a Doosan heat recovery steam generator and a 151-MW D11 steam turbine to increase the plant's capacity to 486 MW.
Austin Energy, a department of the city of Austin, owns 2,600 MW of generation. It operates two facilities inside the Austin metropolitan area and partly owns the 600-MW coal-fired Fayette power station in LaGrange, Texas. It also owns a 16% interest (about 400 MW) of the 2,708-MW South Texas Nuclear Project in Wadsworth, Texas. The utility also has a substantial ownership in renewable energy, as well.
