Released Friday, January 07, 2005

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Privately-held food service products distributor, Ben E. Keith Foods (Fort Worth, Texas) is constructing a new food distribution hub in Edmond, Oklahoma, located just north of Oklahoma City.

The company has been expanding Oklahoma area markets and the existing Oklahoma City facility is not large enough to meet the growing demand for product storage and distribution services. The new facility will be situated on an 80.3-acre site in Edmond, near Santa Fe Avenue and Memorial Road.

Acting as its own general contractor, the company is currently pouring the foundation for a new 325,000 square foot building and 2-story office that will include 60% dry storage area and 40% cooler and freezer space, as well as multiple shipping and receiving docks. Construction on this estimated $22 million project is scheduled to be completed by late 2005.

Ben E. Keith is also constructing a new $14 million, 200,000 square foot facility in Amarillo, Texas, and a $13 million, 145,000 square foot freezer expansion in Fort Worth, Texas to support continued growth.

Guth Lighting Ben E. Keith was founded in 1906 and is a distributor of foodservice products and Anheuser-Busch beers. The independent food division, Ben E. Keith Foods, supplies a full line of produce, frozen foods, meats, dry groceries, refrigerated foods, paper goods, equipment and supplies to restaurants, hospitals, schools, nursing homes and other institutional businesses. The independent beer division, Ben E. Keith Beers, sells Anheuser-Busch brands. Ben E. Keith Company has seven foodservice and eight beer distribution centers. The foodservice division serves eight states and the beer division exclusively delivers Anheuser-Busch products to 49 Texas counties and employs over 2,300 people.
