China Huadian Signs Agreement for 1,000-Megawatt Windfarm

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--A cooperative development agreement was sign in mid-December for the 1,000-megawatt (MW) Wutaohai windfarm by China Huadian New Energy Development Company Limited (Beijing) and the government of Kesheketeng Banner of Chifeng City. The meeting was held in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Zhang Tao, Chief Engineer of China Huadian Corporation (Beijing), and Zhang Liping, Vice Mayor of Chifeng City, attended the ceremony. Huo Guangzhao, Vice President of China Huadian New Energy, and Zhou Chunyi, Governor of Kesheketeng Banner, signed the agreement on behalf of the two parties.

Kesheketeng Banner is rich in wind resources and is one of China's major wind-power bases. By the end of 2006, Kesheketeng Banner had a total installed wind-power capacity of 172 MW. According to the agreement, China Huadian New Energy will invest $1.35 billion to build 1,000 MW of wind turbines at the Wutaohai Windfarm.

China Huadian Corporation, one of China's top 5 nationwide power producers, has been actively engaging in implementing the nation's industrial policy as well as developing plans for renewable energies. China Huadian New Energy, a subsidiary of China Huadian Corporation, was established in Beijing on September 2007 upon the approval of the Industrial and Commercial Administration of Beijing. China Huadian New Energy has a registered capital of $203 million and will be mainly responsible for the investment, construction and operation management of its parent company's new energy projects, including renewable energy projects such as wind power, biomass power and solar power.
