China Power Investment Installs 7,554 Megawatts in 2007

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--China Power Investment Corporation (Beijing), one of the top five power producers in China, put 177 new generating sets into operation in 2007, including 21 thermal power units, 21 hydropower units and two energy projects involving 134 wind turbines and one straw-fired generating unit. The newly added installed capacity in 2007 reached 7,554.9 megawatts (MW), 777 MW over the target, to create a record for the company since it was established during the nation's electric power system reform in 2002.

Among these units, the installed capacity of thermal power units reached 6,994.6 MW of which seven of them are 600-MW high-efficient coal-fired units. The installed capacity of the new hydropower units reached 444.8 MW, which expanded the company's hydropower capacity to 9,629.2 MW to rank the company No. 1 among the top 5 Chinese power producers. The installed capacity of new energy projects reached 115.5 MW, including 100.5 MW of wind power.

Among the units put into operation 2007, four of them were completed ahead of schedule: Unit 6 of Yaomeng power plant in Henan Province, Unit 2 of Baishan power plant and the Unit 1 of Tonghua power plant in Jilin Province, as well as Unit 4 of Dongping hydropower station in Hunan Province.
