China Power Investment Making Progress in Ningxia Projects

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The preparation office of the CPI Ningxia Ningdong project is making progress in the pre-stage preparation of various projects in northwestern China's Ningxia Autonomous Region, China Power Investment Corporation (CPIC) (Beijing) announced. So far, the office has invested about $18.5 million for pre-stage preparation.

The Ningdong coal and power project is the office's main focus. The office signed a prepayment agreement for the pre-stage investigation of the Hongdunzi coalfield with the Ningdong Administration Committee of Yichuan City on December 25, 2007. A payment of $6.85 million has been made, and the Ningdong Administration Committee has begun to collect data. The proposed power plant will have six 1,000-megawatt (MW) coal-fired units to transmit power from the west to the east. Engineering was scheduled for completion on January 20, 2008.

The feasibility study report of Phase I of the 1,200-MW Zaoquan coal and power project has passed the examination of an expert panel and was submitted to the National Development and Reform Commission for approval. The office is working to get it approved and to start construction as soon as possible.

Progress has also been achieved in the 660-MW Zhongwei thermal power project. The office is working with the government of Zhongwei City to collect support documents for the preliminary feasibility study. So far, 14 documents have been found to be in order, and the preliminary feasibility study report was expected to be prepared January 15, 2008. The examination meeting for the preliminary feasibility study report was also scheduled this month. Preparations for a detailed feasibility study report are being arranged. In addition, the preparation office is also actively working with the government of Qingtongxia City to promote wind power projects in the city.
