Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Competitive Power Ventures (CPV) (Silver Spring, Maryland), a Private Energy Producer (PEP) and power plant developer, has two sites in Florida that are permitted for 245 megawatts (MW) each and two 540 MW sites in Virginia that should be permitted by year's end. CPV is actively pursuing partnership and financing for the development of these plants. They are also in the early development stages for several other projects and will seek partnerships to complete those new plants.
The two sites in Florida are CPV Gulfcoast, LTD in Piney Point in Manatee County and CPV Pierce, LTD in Southwestern Polk County. The plants will be natural gas-fired combined-cycle plants, each with a combustion turbine/generator (CT), a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG), and a steam turbine/generator (ST).
The two sites in Virginia are CPV Cunningham Creek, LLC in Northwestern Fluvanna County and CPV Warren, LLC in Warren County. The plants in Virginia are also natural gas-fired combined-cycle plants, but they have a different configuration. Both will have two CT's, each with its own HRSG but still only one ST.
CPV was established in 1999 and has no active generation but has sold one other 250 MW development in Florida to Orion Power Holdings, which in turn was acquired by Reliant Resources.
