Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Niner Wine Estates (San Luis Obispo, California) is finalizing design plans for the company's Heart Hill winery project in Paso Robles, California, for county approval.
The 91,000-square-foot project will include a wine processing and bottling facility, white barrel chai storage, boutique winery and a hospitality building on 139 acres. Construction is scheduled to start in May 2008 on the $30 million project. Pults and Associates (San Luis Obispo) was chosen for the facility's architectural design, and Specialty Construction Incorporated (San Luis Obispo) was selected as the general contractor. The facility, which is expected to go into operation in September 2009, is planned produce about 50,000 cases in 10 years. Industrial Info detailed the scope of the project, tentative schedule and key contacts.
In April, the San Luis Obispo County Planning Commission finally approved the Heart Hill project after severe resistance by local residents and neighboring wine producers. They were concerned that the project would bring traffic noise and wastewater odor to the quiet wine trail west of Paso Robles.
Industrial Info is currently tracking more than $182 million in capital projects in the winery sector in the U.S. and Canada. Currently, Industrial Info's plant database indicates that there are 75 operational plants in this sector.
Niner Wine Estates was founded in 2001 and is dedicated to making the highest quality wines in the Paso Robles appellation, using only estate-grown fruit.
