Contract Awarded for China Sichuan-Shanghai DC Transmission Project

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The State Grid Corporation of China (Beijing) signed a contract in mid-December for the main equipment for the Sichuan-Shanghai ±800-kilovolt (kV) DC transmission project with one packaged designer and eight manufacturers in Beijing.

The supply scope of this batch procurement includes systems study and packaged design, inverter, control and protection system, inverting transformer, dry-type smoothing reactor, and DC field equipment. According to the NDRC, besides the DC field equipment, all of the equipment was procured through competitive negotiation. The DC field equipment was procured through international bidding. Eight of the 28 suppliers were Chinese manufacturers, including Xi'an Electric Power Machinery Company (Shaanxi, China), Xuji Group Company Limited (Henan, China) and TBEA Shengyang Transformer Group Company Limited (Liaoning, China).

The transmission project is a support project for two large hydropower stations, Xiangjiaba and Xiluodu, which have a total installed capacity of 38 million kilowatts. The stations are upstream of the Yangtze River.
