Dynegy Plans Over 5,000 MW of New Power Generation

Dynegy Incorporated (NYSE: DYN) (Houston, Texas), a Private Energy Producer (PEP), is planning over $1.5 billion in new power generation totaling over 5,000 mega-watts (MW) and due to come on line by 2004. Projects in early development stages range throughout the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States and considerations for a new coal-fired power plant are being evaluated for the Great Lakes Region. Power plants currently under construction are a 680MW peaking power plant in Carson City, Michigan and 324MW merchant power plant in Lagrange, Kentucky expected to come on line June 2002.

Dynegy completed a merger with Illinova Corporation in February 2000 adding over 3,800MW to its overall power generation capacity. ChevronTexaco (NYSE: CVX) currently owns 27% of Dynegy.
