Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Eisai Incorporated (Teaneck, New Jersey), the U.S. pharmaceutical subsidiary of Tokyo-based Eisai Company Limited, is continuing with its dynamic domestic growth plan. Eisai has chosen Andover, Massachusetts as the site for a new $65 million research and development center. As part of the company's plan to steadily increase their North American presence, they will begin construction on the new facility in 2004 on a 23-acre site on Corporate Drive. The company currently employs 170 people at their other buildings they have in the area, including a manufacturing facility on Federal Street that is currently undergoing a $9 million expansion.
Eisai's latest announcement caps a growth-filled year including the ground-breaking for an 80,000-square-foot expansion of its Research Triangle Park manufacturing and R&D site in June 2002 and plans to strengthen its national sales force by adding an additional 150 sales representatives. The expansion is part of a two-year plan to increase Eisai's sales force to more than 500 sales representatives from its current number of about 250. The move supports the company's plan to play a greater role in the promotion of its own products.
