Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--From the beginning of 2007 up until November, the accumulated sales volume of Jiangsu Electric Power Company (Nanjing, China), a subsidiary of the State Grid Corporation of China (Beijing) in eastern China's Jiangsu Province, reached 209.9 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh), an increase of 15.11% year over year, according to a monthly report by Jiangsu Electric. This marks that the Jiangsu grid has become the first provincial grid to have a sales volume of more than 200 billion kWh under the State Grid Corporation.
From January to November, Jiangsu Electric invested $2.41 billion in infrastructure projects. Three 500-kilovolt (kV) substations were expanded; 15 220-kV substations were built; 13.4 million kilovolt-amperes (kVa) of substation capacity were added; and 4,153 kilometers of transmission lines of 35 kV or higher were added. The fourth transmission line running from northern Jiangsu to the southern area of the province was recently completed, and the power transmission capacity was increased from 6.5 million kilowatts (kW) to 10 million kW. A main framework composed of four horizontal and four vertical 500-kV transmission lines was established in the Jiangsu grid that could serve as backup for the grid.
The Jiangsu grid is an important component of eastern China's power grid with 13 subregional grids and connections with China's central and northern power grids. The Jiangsu grid's maximum load reached 45.62 million kW in August 2007, and the total installed capacity has surpassed 52 million kW. In November 2007, the grid's power output reached 20.05 billion kWh, an increase of 12.12% year over year.
