(Milan, Italy), a privately held company recently acquired the 54.5 megawatt (MW) Cefn Croes Wind Power Project (PEC 78000241) in Wales near Devil's Bridge east of Aberystwth (Plant 1058251), from developers Renewable Developers Company (Mold, Wales, United Kingdom) and GE Wind Energy (Tehachapi, California), a division of GE Energy (Atlanta, Georgia), a subsidiary of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) (Fairfield, Connecticut).
The wind project is being built on a turn-key basis to be constructed, operated and maintained by GE Wind Energy. This project will be the first in Wales to use GE wind turbine/generators and will utilize (39) of GE's 1.5 MW wind turbine/generator units. When the project is complete in October it will be a step toward the United Kingdom's goal for 15% of their electricity to be produced by renewable resources by 2015.
