Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Celgene Corporation (NASDAQ:CELG) (Warren, New Jersey) recently completed almost $7 million in renovations to a 78,000 square foot research facility in the Golden Triangle area of La Jolla, California. Biostruct (San Diego, California) transformed the former office space most recently occupied by Gateway Computers into Celgene?s new west coast drug discovery base of operations. Previously located in three buildings, the company's west coast drug discovery division will now have its chemistry and drug development labs under one roof, along with their administrative offices.
The new labs will allow Celgene to continue its work developing pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals based on two broad technology platforms: small molecule immunotherapeutic compound development and biocatalytic chiral chemistry. Celgene recently announced a $45 million agreement to acquire Anthrogenesis Corporation (Cedar Knolls, New Jersey), a privately held biotherapeutics company pioneering the recovery of stem cells from human placental tissue following the completion of a full-term, successful pregnancy.
