FPL Energy Completing 520MW Power Plant in Southern California for Early 2003

FPL Energy (Juno Beach, Florida), a subsidiary of FPL Group (NYSE: FPL) (Juno Beach, Florida), operating as Blythe Energy LLC (Blythe, California), is completing their 520 megawatt (MW) power plant in Eastern Riverside County, California. The plant is expected to be online by January 2003.

Dick Pacific (Honolulu, Hawaii), a division of Dick Corporation (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), started construction of the natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plant in spring of 2001. The plant will consist of two gas turbine/generators, two heat recovery steam generators, and a steam turbine/generator set. The plant will help stabilize the California power situation.
