Plans call for the creation of a $5 million distribution facility that will also have about 10,000 square feet of cooler space, as well as multiple shipping and receiving docks

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). The nation’s largest Hispanic-owned food company, Goya Foods, Incorporated (Secaucus, New Jersey), is investing over $8 million to build two new facilities in Virginia and Texas.

In Virginia, the company has just begun putting the footings in the ground for a new 109,000 square-foot distribution facility that will be located in the Southpoint Business Park off Interstate 295 in Prince George. Plans call for the creation of a $5 million distribution facility that will also have about 10,000 square feet of cooler space, as well as multiple shipping and receiving docks plus storage racking for regional distribution of the company’s line of more than 1,200 food products.

Business park developers and constructors, The Hollingsworth Companies (Clinton, Tennessee) will utilize the firm’s Prince George office and will be responsible for constructing the building shell. Goya act as its own general contractor for the buildout. Construction is expected to be complete by April 2006 and the new business is expected to create 60 new jobs for the area.

As first reported by Industrialinfo.com, in September 2004, Goya Foods of Texas announced plans to build a new $3.8 million distribution facility in Houston, Texas. An official groundbreaking ceremony took place back in June of 2005 for a new 138,000 square-foot distribution facility. The building is currently under construction off the Sam Houston Parkway on Houston’s west side at 5750 Brittmore Road.

GSL Constructors, Limited (Houston, Texas) was selected as the general contractor for this project and completion is targeted for March of 2006. Existing operations in Houston will be relocated to the new site and will help the company better serve markets in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
