Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--GWF Power Systems LP (Pittsburg, California) shut down five petroleum fueled power stations this year due to environmental concerns and operational benefits for the state of California, as well as benefits for PG&E Corporation's (NYSE:PCG) customers. Five petroleum power stations were decommissioned and dismantled: Loveridge Road Power Plant, Nichols Road Power Plant, East Third Street Power Plant, Wilbur Avenue West Power Plant and the Wilbur Avenue East Power Plant. All of these stations are located along the San Joaquin-Sacramento River Delta in the Contra Costra County, California.

These plants were shut down in the first quarter of 2012, and Hilco Industrial (Birmingham, Alabama) was awarded the contract to decommission, dismantle and remove all five power stations in 2013.

All five petroleum power stations were built between 1989 and 1991. They each consist of an Alstom single fluidized bed boiler, which provides steam to an Alstom single-steam turbine generator. Each power station generated 25 megawatts (MW), which provided electricity to the state of California.

GWF Energy LLC is the leading independent power producer for California and provides more than 400,000 business and homes with environmentally clean electricity.

Hilco Industrial is a worldwide company that provides shutdown and dismantlement equipment and services for plants, such as power plants, refineries and plastic manufacturing companies.
