High Spec $120m Pharma Complex For Addis Ababa

The latest technology for human and veterinary pharmaceuticals will be available in a new $120 million complex, which is now being built on the outskirts of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. Pharmacure has awarded the contract for the construction of the facility to WHBO of South Africa in a joint venture with Midroc Construction of Ethiopia.

With a maximum height of four stories, the project is comprised of a number of concrete framed and concrete infill buildings. High quality design is specified for the exterior and interior of the complex including external cladding of composite aluminum sandwich panels from Europe and aluminum roof sheeting. The buildings will contain a penicillin block, a large general production area, and a general service complex. The joint venture will also handle associated civil engineering works including a sewage processing plant. Equipment has been flown into landlocked Ethiopia from Europe, South Africa, and other sources for the project, which is on track for completion in 2003.
