Horizon Wind Begins Construction of Third Phase Expansion at Meadow Lake Windfarm

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Horizon Wind Energy LLC (Houston, Texas) has begun construction of the estimated $380 million, 101-megawatt (MW), third-phase expansion at the company's Meadow Lake Windfarm in Brookston, Indiana.

Construction on the project began earlier this month, and it is scheduled to be ready for full commercial operation by the end of 2010. The project will consist of constructing 67 additional 1.5-MW GE Energy sle model wind turbines for the site. Aristeo Construction Company (Livonia, Michigan) is commissioning 67 Acciona Windpower AW-1500 model turbines of 1.5-MW each at the facility for the second phase, which is slated for commercial operation by the summer. Upon completion of the third phase, Meadow Lake will be capable of generating more than 400 MW of clean renewable energy.

White Construction Incorporated (Clinton, Indiana) will provide the turnkey services for the third phase of Meadow Lake.
