HPEC and CFHI to Supply Key Components for Two Nuclear Power Stations in China

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Harbin Power Equipment Company Limited (HKG:1133) (HPEC) (Harbin, Heilongjiang) and China First Heavy Industries (CFHI) (Fularji, Heilongjiang), two major nuclear power equipment suppliers in China, signed a supply contract on July 25 for key nuclear power island components with China Nuclear Power Engineering Company Limited (CNPEC) (Shenzhen).

According to the contract, HPEC and CFHI will supply key components for six 1,000-megawatt CPR1000 nuclear power units in Yangjiang and Ningde, two nuclear power projects currently under construction in the coastal area of southern China. The equipment includes six sets of pressure vessels for reactors and 18 sets of evaporators and regulators. The total value of the supply contract is about $186 million. This is the largest contract for nuclear power island components ever signed in China.

CHFI will be responsible for the manufacture of the pressure vessels for reactors as well as the supply of forged parts for the evaporators and regulators. HPEC will be responsible for the manufacture and final supply of the evaporators and regulators. CHFI has long been engaged in the research and development of pressure vessels for reactors and is currently the largest manufacturer of large forged components in China. CHFI has received orders for the manufacture of 12 sets of pressure vessels for reactors so far, accounting for 70% of the new projects in China. As one of the three major power equipment producers in China, HPEC successfully delivered two independently designed and manufactured evaporators for Pakistan.
