IKO Industries Corporation Considers Illinois Sites for Asphalt Shingle Plant

IKO Industries Corporation (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) has narrowed the shortlist of potential sites down to three in Illinois for it}s proposed grassroot asphalt shingle manufacturing plant with final site selection expected to be made in early 2003.
The $40 million project will involve the construction of a 125,000 square foot metal building and the installation of one new asphalt shingle manufacturing line. The building is being constructed with enough room to accommodate future expansion dependent on market conditions.
Current plans are to begin the permitting process in the spring of 2003 with construction beginning in July. The new plant will initially employ 55 full-time employees when it becomes operational in early 2004.
