Indian Oil Corporation's Bongaigaon Refinery to meet Euro III Quality Specification

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The 47,000 barrel-per-day (BBL/d) Indian Oil Corporation's (BSE: 530965) (IOCL) (New Delhi) Bongaigaon refinery, located in Chirang-Assam, India, is adding units to meet Euro III Quality Specification.

Bongaigaon refinery is one of 10 refineries that the IOCL owns and operates in India. The company has a combined refining capacity of 1.21 million BBL/d.

The plant has two main blocks, the CDU area and the Petrochemical area, with a total of nine primary processing units, including the 27,000-BBL/d Crude 1, the 20,000-BBL/d Crude 2, two Delayed Cokers of 10,000 BBL/d each, and a Coke Calcination Unit, among others.

Currently, the company is planning to add new units to improve the quality of diesel to meet Euro III Quality Specification. To meet this goal they will construct a 24,000-BBL/d Diesel Hydrotreater and a 25,000-ton-per-year Hydrogen unit. The refinery expects to complete these projects by the second quarter of 2010.
