Indiana Solar Plant Achieves Commercial Operations
Duke Energy Corporation's (NYSE:DUK) (Charlotte, North Carolina) first and largest solar project in Indiana, the 17-megawatt Crane Naval photovoltaic solar power plant, located approximately 40 miles south of Bloomington, achieved commercial operations late last month.

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Duke Energy Corporation's (NYSE:DUK) (Charlotte, North Carolina) first and largest solar project in Indiana, the 17-megawatt Crane Naval photovoltaic solar power plant, located approximately 40 miles south of Bloomington, achieved commercial operations late last month. The project was completed by Duke Energy Indiana and M A Mortenson Company (Minneapolis, Minnesota), which served as the engineering, procurement and construction firm on project.
The project is located on 145 acres of land leased from the Department of the Navy at the Naval Support Activity Crane base. The solar farm uses approximately 76,000 solar panels to provide enough clean and reliable power for more than 3,000 homes and businesses in Indiana.
Construction of the plant began in August 2016, and the plant took six months to be constructed, commissioned, and commercially operating. The project had a total investment value of $34 million. Duke Energy Indiana owns the project and will be responsible for operation and maintenance of the solar farm.
