International Paper’s Expansion in Full Swing at Alabama Mill

Leading integrated paper and forest products company, International Paper (NYSE:IP)(Memphis, Tennessee) has contracted BE&K (Birmingham, Alabama) as the general contractor and is working fast towards the startup of the largest capital investment in recent years at the company’s pulp and paper mill located in Courtland, Alabama. The $53 million project is centered on the installation of a new cut-size sheeter. Installation of the new sheeter and modifications to the No. 4 paper machine are scheduled to be complete in the first quarter of 2007.

The Courtland expansion is part of a company-wide plan to transform its operations to focus on its global uncoated papers and packaging businesses.
