Japanese Auto Supplier Begins Construction of $54 Million Automotive Parts Plant in Tennessee

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Japanese auto supplier NHK Seating of America Incorporated (Frankfort, Indiana) has begun construction on a $54 million grassroot automotive seat-frame manufacturing plant in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Construction started this month on a 130,000-square-foot building, which will include the installation of production and supporting equipment that will be used to manufacture automotive seat frames. Approximately 224 jobs will be created when full production occurs. Overall completion of the plant is scheduled for the early summer of 2011. Construction is anticipated to be completed by 2014.

Gray Construction Company (Bowling Green, Kentucky) was selected to provide general construction services for the new plant.

NHK Seating, founded in 1987, is a joint venture between NHK Spring Company Limited (Yokohama, Japan) and the Lear Corporation (Southfield, Michigan). The company employs more than 300 workers in Frankfort, Indiana, and manufactures, assembles and distributes seating and other parts to Japanese automotive plants. NHK provides seat assemblies for the Subaru Legacy, Subaru B9 and Toyota Camry.
