Researched by Industrial Info Resources China (Beijing, China)--Jingneng Group Shenzhen Yuhu Power Company Limited (Shenzhen, Guangdong), a subsidiary of Beijing Energy Investment Holding Company Limited (Jingneng Group) (Beijing), awarded the survey & engineering contract for the 860-megawatt (MW), gas-fired cogeneration expansion project at the Shenzhen Yuhu Power Plant to Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute (GEPDI) (Guangzhou, Guangdong), a regional subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) (Beijing), on January 24, 2014, according to an announcement from the CEEC on January 29.
As a leading local energy investment group, GEPDI's traditional scope of business is concentrated in Beijing and its surrounding areas. Since its involvement in Shenzhen Yuhu Power in 2010, the group is currently conducting pre-stage preparations for several power projects in the Guangdong province. The Yuhu and Yuhai gas-fired cogeneration projects have received approval from the government of the Guangdong province in 2013.
The Shenzhen Yuhu Power Plant, which is in the Longgang District of Shenzhen City, is a joint venture power plant built in 2002 and acquired by Jingneng Group in July 2011. The power plant currently has two 180-MW, gas-fired, combined-cycle units in operation. The expansion project will be furnished with two improved, 9F-class, gas-fired, combined-cycle cogeneration units, together with associated heat supply pipeline works at the opposite of the existing plant. The project will use the gas transmitted from eastward by the second national natural gas transmission pipeline. It also will achieve centralized heat (cold) supply for related industrial parks and users in Pinghu District by using the lower-quality steam from the exit of the gas-fired turbines. Upon completion, the project will be able to generate 3.87 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.
