Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Katoen Natie Gulf Coast (LaPorte, Texas) plans construction of a second Houston Polymers Terminal (HPT), to be located on Highway 225 near the petrochemical corridor, along the Houston Ship Channel. The site selection process is underway and should be finalized in October, along with the selection of a consulting firm to begin permitting. The terminal will cost an estimated $20 million and consist of approximately 400,000 square feet of warehouse space.

The warehouse will be used for specialty polymer dry bulk resin storage and packaging, and will include a railcar storage yard, with bulk packaging silos and blending equipment, to be served by the Port Terminal Railroad Association. Construction is planned to begin in the second quarter of 2005 and be complete by the end of the year.

The first HPT was completed in June 2004, and took two years to construct. The investment was estimated at $75 million, with over 1.2 million square feet of packaging and storage warehouse space and railcar storage yard for transportation. Industrialinfo.com began tracking this development in 2001.
