Louisiana Sugar Processor Develops Plans for New Refinery

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--M.A. Patout & Son Limited (Patoutville, Louisiana) has partnered with The Amalgamated Sugar Company LLC (Boise, Idaho) and is developing plans to build a new sugarcane refinery in Patoutville. The proposal calls for a facility that would refine approximately 400,000 tons of raw sugar per year. The partnership has engaged Dennis Group (Boston, Massachusetts) for the preliminary phase of the project and is currently proceeding with securing funding.

M.A. Patout, one of the country's oldest sugarcane companies, grinds about 25% of Louisiana sugarcane at three processing facilities.

Approximately one hundred miles northwest of the Patoutville site, construction is currently under way on a new sugar refinery that is scheduled to come online at the end of 2011.
