Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE) (Mexico City, Mexico) plans to build a combined-cycle, natural gas-fired power station in the municipality of Acolman, in the state of Mexico. The estimated investment for the project is $425 million.
Construction will be performed by a consortium consisting of Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios SA de CV (Mexico), Avanzia Instalaciones SA (Mexico) and Initec Energia SA de CV (Madrid, Spain). The Valle de Mexico II power station will have two Siemens AG (NYSE:SI) SGT6-500F 208-megawatt (MW), heavy frame combustion turbine generators, with HRSGs driving one Siemens (SST-500) 199-MW condensing steam turbine. The power station will provide about 615 MW at peak capacity in order to help meet the area's residential and industry energy demands. CFE's network will provide the natural gas to operate the power station.
The project is estimated to create about 300 site preparation and construction jobs. About 15-20 permanent positions will be created for labor security, operation and maintenance of the power station. Transmission lines and substations will be included in the infrastructure.
CFE plans to begin construction by third-quarter 2015. The power station is scheduled for full operations by the end of 2017.
