Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The B.C. Cobb Electric Generating Station, a coal-fired plant in Muskegon, Michigan, experienced a forced outage Tuesday on one of its two remaining units. The station is owned by Consumers Energy, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy Corporation (NYSE:CMS) (Jackson, Michigan).
Maintenance personnel said that the 156-megawatt (MW) unit, known as B.C. Cobb 04, was taken offline because of a re-heater tube found to be leaking in the boiler. Repairs are being made on the unit, and plans are to return it to service Friday.
The B.C. Cobb station will cease operations April 2016. The plant has two units, each with a capacity of 156 MW, for a total of 312 MW. There are no major outages planned, and repairs to the facility are done as needed.
