Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--B.C. Cobb Electric Generating Station, a coal-fired plant in Muskegon, Michigan, was forced offline in a station-wide outage earlier this week. The station is owned by Consumers Energy, a subsidiary of CMS Energy Corporation (NYSE:CMS) (Jackson, Michigan).

Unit 4, which produces 156 MW, was taken offline Monday due to a water-wall leak discovered in its boiler section.

Unit 5, which also generates 156 MW, also experienced a boiler issue. Plant personnel identified an economizer leak that caused additional unplanned plant complications.

Both units remain offline; both were online, at full load, prior to the forced outages. Officials plan to repair the units and return them to service by the weekend.

The B.C. Cobb station will cease operations in April 2016. The plant comprises two units with a total output of 312 MW when at full load.
