Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Crude oil exports from the Williston Basin just got some additional capacity. Mountrail Rail Incorporated (Palermo, North Dakota) opened a transload terminal in the heart of the Bakken Shale play.
The transload terminal has the capacity to handle160,000 barrels per day of crude oil, natural gas liquids (NGL) and Y-Grade condensate. The terminal also has two 6,300-foot manifest storage lines, nine manifest storage lots, and an on-site locomotive.
The facility has a dual-loop, crude load-out system, 1,800 feet of canopy, and the capacity for two crude export trains. Total stowage capacity on-site is 480,000 barrels of crude oil.
Manifest cargo includes bulk concrete, carbon dioxide, diesel, frac sand, drilling mud, and gas plant/pipeline equipment and pipe and well-site production equipment.
The 493-acre terminal site is located in Mountrail County in the city of Palermo, North Dakota, and off Highway 2 frontage road. Rail service is provided by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad (Forth Worth, Texas), a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRKB) (Omaha, Nebraska).
