Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The National Development and Reform Commission announced in early January that it had approved five thermal power projects in China.

Heilongjiang Datang Qitaihe power plant - Phase II expansion:
This project will have two 600-megawatt (MW) subcritical coal-fired units with a flue-gas-desulfurization device at the space reserved at the site of the Datang Qitaihe power plant's expansion site in northeastern China's Heilongjiang Province. In addition, desulfurization reformation will be conducted on two 350-MW units built in Phase I.

Shanxi Gujiao power plant - Phase II expansion:
This project will have two 600-MW direct-air-cooled supercritical coal-fired units with a flue-gas-desulfurization device at the space reserved at the west side of the Gujiao power plant's Phase I in northern China's Shanxi Province.

Shandong Huangtai power plant - combined heat and power renovation:
This project will have two 300-MW subcritical coal-fired units with flue-gas-desulfurization and nitration devices, as well as the associated heat-supply network. The project will have 14 million square meters of heat-supply capacity. Existing units 1-6 (365 MW) and 77 small boilers will be dismantled upon the project's completion in 2009.

Inner Mongolia Huadian Baotou Hexi power plant - new construction:
This project will be located at the south side of the planned industrial park in the Jiuyuan District of Baotou City. The project will have two 600-MW water-cooled subcritical coal-fired units with a flue-gas-desulfurization device. The water will be supplied by urban intermediate water taken from the Baotou Iron & Steel Corporation, as well as the South Suburban sewage plant.

Inner Mongolia Hailar power plant - Phase III expansion:
This project will have two 200-MW combined heat and power units with flue-gas-desulfurization and nitration devices, as well as the associated heat-supply network at the space reserved in the Hailar thermal power plant's Phase II in northern China's Inner Mongolia Region. The project will have 6.9 million square meters of heat-supply capacity. Two existing 6-MW units, one 12-MW unit and 318 small boilers will be dismantled upon the project's completion.
