Nebraska's Tenth Ethanol Plant Ready to Go
Nine months ago, construction began on this 40 million gallon per year fuel ethanol plant under the direction of part owner

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). After being turned away from ethanol plant developers on two other occasions, Central City, Nebraska's hopes of getting an ethanol plant have finally come to fruition. Farmer owned, Platte Valley Fuel Ethanol LLC (Central City, Nebraska) (Plant 1060123) started receiving their first loads of corn earlier this month and fuel ethanol is scheduled to begin pouring out of the plant this week.
Nine months ago, construction began on this 40 million gallon per year fuel ethanol plant under the direction of part owner and plant builder Fagen Incorporated (Granite Falls, Minnesota) in hopes of helping the country provide a suitable substitute for the now outlawed MTBE gasoline additive.
The dry mill plant will receive some 15 million bushels per year of locally grown corn and expects to unload about 60 tractor-trailer of corn a day to feed the shiny new plant. Ethanol by-products, distillers dried grains and C02 will also be produced on-site.
With the addition of Nebraska's tenth plant, the state now has a nameplate designed capacity to produce over 515 million gallons of fuel ethanol per year. Two other plants currently under construction and scheduled to come on-line by mid 2006 will add another 52 million gallons to the state's annually capacity.
Four additional developing projects in Nebraska could add another 140 million gallons to the mix once the last of the new plants comes online in mid 2006.
