NextEra Completes $66 Million Windfarm Expansion in North Dakota

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--NextEra Energy Resources LLC (Juno Beach, Florida), a subsidiary of FPL Group Incorporated (NYSE:FPL) (North Palm Beach, Florida), has completed construction of the $66 million, 50-megawatt (MW) expansion at the Wilton Wind Energy Center in Baldwin, North Dakota.

Construction of the project began late last summer and was completed earlier this year. NextEra has commenced full commercial operation of the project. The project consisted of 33 additional 1.5-MW GE Energy sle model wind turbine generators to boost Wilton's total nameplate capacity to 100 MW. Basin Electric Power Cooperative will purchase the additional power that will be generated by the new expansion.

Wanzek Construction (Fargo, North Dakota) provided the turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction services for the project.
