Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The 930-megawatt (MW) Unit 1 at Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Station in New Hill, North Carolina, was shut down on Friday, May 16, to repair a heat exchanger and for other corrections. The station is owned by Duke Energy Corporation (NYSE:DUK) (Charlotte, North Carolina).
Plant officials said that they will change out a 6.9-kilovolt transformer and perform a few additional inspections and repairs to some equipment, in preparation for the summer run.
Plant officials said that the maintenance outage should be brief, and they anticipate returning the unit online late Wednesday or early Thursday morning, May 22, if there are no delays.
The plant has one operational unit, which has a total generating capacity of 930 MW.
