Northeast, New England Plan $10.6 Billion in Project Starts in Second-Half 2014

Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The Northeast and New England market regions of the U.S. have industrial projects totaling approximately $10.6 billion that are planned to kick off in the second half of 2014. In terms of the number of projects, New York and Pennsylvania lead the region, with 110 and 113 projects, respectively, that have already begun or are planned to kick off from July through December this year.

In terms of the overall value of projects, a couple of high-dollar commuter rail extensions by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority push the state of Massachusetts and the Industrial Manufacturing Industry to the top of the pack.

Outside of these large rail projects, the Pharmaceutical-Biotech Industry, always a strong player in the region, and the Power Industry lead the area in terms of value. One of the largest Power projects is also occurring in Massachusetts. Footprint Power LLC (Salem, Massachusetts) is in the permitting process to construct a 674-megawatt natural gas-fired combined-cycle power station on the site of the closed Salem Harbor coal-fired power station, which ceased operating June 1 of this year. In the Northeast and New England regions, the Power Industry encompasses a diverse range of projects, which also include a nuclear uprate in Pennsylvania, transmission line construction and a windfarm.
