Northrop Grumman Corporation Commits to $328 Million Expansion Program in Mississippi

the work at both shipyards with construction actually beginning in late 2002 and with completion scheduled for 2007

Released Wednesday, July 09, 2003

Researched by Industrialinfo.com (Industrial Information Resources, Incorporated; Houston, Texas). Earlier in 2003, the Mississippi House of Representatives passed a bill to provide Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) (Los Angeles, California) with $144 million over the next three years to expand its shipyards in Pascagoula, Mississippi and Gulfport, Mississippi. With Grumman matching that $144 million plus adding in an additional $40 million, the shipbuilder has pressed forward with its expansion program that was begun in 2002.

Parsons Engineering (Pasadena, California) has been selected as the program manager for the work at both shipyards with construction actually beginning in late 2002 and with completion scheduled for 2007.

The basic scope of work for both shipyards involves multiple expansion, upgrade, renovation, and revamp projects throughout the yards aimed at expanding their overall capacity and capabilities to position the shipbuilder to support current and future contracts. This expansion program should allow Grumman to maintain its position as one of the major players in shipbuilding on the Gulf Coast.

Grumman Northrop Corporation is a $25 billion global defense enterprise with worldwide headquarters in Los Angeles, California. Northrop Grumman provides technologically advanced, innovative products and services and solutions in defense electronics, systems integration, information technology, nuclear and non-nuclear shipbuilding, and space technology.
