Researched by Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--Darlington Nuclear Generating Station, which is located in Bowmanville, Ontario, near Toronto, shut down its 881-megawatt (MW) Unit 3 on Monday to repair a seal oil cooler leak. State-government-owned Ontario Power Generation (Toronto) owns and operates the station.
Plant officials said that they will check for additional leakage, and repairs will resume once their analysis is complete. Sources estimate they will return the unit to service Sunday, July 12, if there are no delays.
The Darlington plant has four steam-generating units and four gas units, which have a combined capacity of 3,524 MW when at full load.
